The government will reportedly raise the price of natural gas price by up to 18% with effect from 1 April 2019, per the New Domestic Gas policy, 2014. The policy suggests revising the natural gas price every six months. Prices of CNG (compressed natural gas) used as auto fuel, and PNG (piped natural gas) used in households as cooking gas may also go up. Increase in prices of domestic natural gas will also push up the wholesale price index (WPI) inflation. Revenues for upstream gas exploration companies such as ONGC, OIL India, Vedanta and Reliance will also increase.
