Petrol, diesel prices go for pause, consumer relief likely ahead

Fuel prices remained unchanged on Tuesday after rising on 22 of the past 24 days. In Delhi, petrol price on Tuesday retailed at Rs 80.43 per litre while diesel price stood at Rs 80.53 a litre, same level as on Monday when the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) had increased the price of the two fuels by 5 paise and 14 paise respectively. Retail consumers could get relief from the regular price hike of the two petroleum products as the rate pause seen on Tuesday could be replicated in several of the coming days due to softening of global oil prices.
