Government shutdown becomes longest in US history

The ongoing US government shutdown entered into its 22nd day on Friday midnight o become the longest in US history surpassing the 21-day shutdown in 1995-96 under Bill Clinton. The shutdown has left over 8,00,000 federal employees, including FBI agents, air traffic controllers and museum staff without pay after the US president Donald Trump refused to sign off budgets for various government departments. The standoff between the Democrats and the Trump government relates to the $5.7 billion fund demand by Trump administration to build a Mexico border wall. Trump, however, backed off from declaring the situation as National Emergency.
